Abuja, June 27, 2024 -The Senate on Thursday approved the extension of the implementation of the 2023 Appropriation Act and the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Act till December 31, 2024.
The resolution was adopted after the consideration of the request of President Bola Tinubu.
Goodwill Akpabio, the Senate President, had read a letter from Tinubu requesting the extension of tenure of the budgets during the plenary on Thursday.
Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader, called for immediate consideration of these requests in view of their importance.
He said: “You will recall that on Wednesday20th March 2024, these Acts were amended to allow for exhaustive implementation of capital projects under the Acts to 30th June 2024.
“The extension will expire on Sunday 30th June 2024 and many projects are yet to be completed,” he said.
