Abuja, May 9, 2024 – The House of Representatives is to investigate the procurement and contract award process on the Lagos to Calabar coastal highway.
The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Austin Achado (APC, Benue) at the plenary on Thursday.
He had alleged that the procurement process did not follow due process, while the project was not approved by the National Assembly.
In its resolution, the House directed the Ministry of Works to furnish the National Assembly with details of the procurement processes leading to the award of the contract.
The Lagos-Calabar highway project has been a subject of controversy since the award of the contract was awarded. The projecgt commenced last month.
The 700km-road was awarded to Hitech Construction firm over a period of five years. (GBN)
