Presidency confirms Ngelale’s indefinite leave of absence

Abuja, Sept. 8, 2024 – The presidency has confirmed the receipt of a letter from Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesman, to take indefinite leave of absence from office.

The presidency said in a statement on Saturday that President Bola Tinubu had received a memo from Ngelale detailing his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence due to personal and health reasons.

According to the statement, the President accepts Ngelale’s reasons for the leave, fully understands them and sympathizes with the circumstances that have led to his decision.

The President extended his heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Ngelale and his family during this challenging time, hoping for a speedy recovery and full restoration to the health concerns.

The presidency’s statement reads in parts: “The President acknowledges his tireless efforts and dedication in serving the nation and thanks him for the remarkable contributions he has made in his various capacities, particularly in advancing national discourse and leading efforts on climate action and other key initiatives. 

“The President wishes him well in all his future endeavours.

“During this period, we kindly ask that the privacy of Chief Ngelale and his family be respected.”   (GBN)
