Abuja, March 28, 2023 – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has replaced its suspended National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, with one of his deputies, Amb Umar Damagum.
Damagum was the Deputy National Chairman (North) before this new appointment.
He will act as National Chairman of the party pending the determination of the substantive suit restraining Ayu from parading himself as National Chairman.
A Benue High Court sitting, had on Monday, restrained Ayu from acting as the chairman of the party following a suit filed by his ward over anti-party activities.
The ward executive committee suspended Ayu for alleged anti-party activities and failing to pay his membership dues.
Meanwhile, there were reports earlier on Tuesday that Ayu had already resigned as National Chairman of PDP. (GBN)
