Petrol tanker explodes in Ondo
Ondo, Feb. 6, 2023 – A petrol tanker exploded while discharging fuel at a petrol station in Ondo on Monday. The tanker was razed and the filling station torched. An eyewitness said it was “the pressure” that caused the explosion. Men of the Federal Fire Service and Ondo State Fire Service helped in putting out the fire. (GBN)
EFCC arrests bank manager for refusing to load N29m in ATMs
Abuja, Feb. 6, 2023 – Operatives of the EFCC on Monday arrested a manager of a commercial bank in Abuja for refusing to load the Automated Teller Machines of the bank despite having N29 million of the new naira notes in the vault. The operatives ordered the loading of all the ATMs and the payment of the stipulated amount across the counter to customers who had spent hours on queues without getting the new notes. Lagos, Feb.6, 2023 – Proshare has attributed Nigeria’s latest downgrade by Standard and Poor’s (S&P) to the increasing risk of the country’s poor capacity to service its debts in the next one-to-two years. Abuja, Feb. 5, 2023 – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized large consignments of illicit drugs at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Abuja, Feb. 5, 2022 – The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed three deputy inspectors general of police and promoted 1,043 senior police officers. Lagos, Feb. 5, 2023 – Six unidentified persons were found dead in a vessel after an accident around Atlas Cove in Lagos at the weekend. The deceased were said to have been working on the tanker of the vessel identified as MT Halima when the accident occurred.
