Igbogbo (Lagos), Dec. 2, 2023 – Carolne Adepoju, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, says Nigeran passports can now be collected three weeks after submission of applications.
Adepoju said this at the opening of the Igbogbo Passport Front Office in Igbogbo, Lagos State.
She stressed that applicants would receive their passports three weeks from the day of submission of applications, except when there is a technical problem.
“I can tell you, barring all technical problems, you should be able to completely apply for your passport and within three weeks, you should be able to get it.”
Adepoju advised applicants to ensure that information provided in the passport application forms correspond with those on their National Identity card as they must have same information.
“People who are applying for our passport must have similar details with which they are applying for the passport on their national identity numbers because the Nigerian passport has the national identity number on it.
“So, if there are no issues, within three weeks, you must get your passport, from application to the production of the passport,” Adepoju said.
She advised Nigerians whose passports were nearing expiration to apply for renewal six months before the expiration.
Adepoju also enjoined them to always apply early for passport renewal as certain nations refused visas to applicants whose passports have less than six months left on them. (GBN)
