Minna, May 10, 2024 – President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria will soon achieve food sufficiency through projects being put in place by the government.
Tinubu made the promise during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 84-kilometer Bida to Minna road.
He called on state governors to key into his administration’s agricultural revolution programme and plans on food security.
The president, who was represented by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, , said if the state governors could adopt this, it would relieve the citizens of the current hardship.
He said his promise to make Nigeria self-sufficient was being fulfilled in spite of the enormous challenges.
Tinubu commended the several development initiatives embarked upon by the Niger state governor.
He said the development strides of the governor were in line with the charges he gave to sub-nationals to support the federal government in ameliorating the challenges facing the people.
” For governments at all levels to grow, there must be cordial relationships. The Federal Government will support Niger to ensure that the desired prosperity is derived.
“Road construction will save lives and create avenues for greater economic development,” the President said.
Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Governor of Niger State, said that his administration had commenced the construction of over 1000 kilometers of road across the state..
He said that those waiting for the failure of the road projects in the state would wait in vain as the administration had put all machinery in place to ensure the projects would not fail. (GBN)
