Abuja, Nov.17, 202 -The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) have disclaimed a story captioned “Diaspora Mortgage Pre-Financeing by HXAFRICA & Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
The two federal agencies issued their disclaimers in separate statements at the weekend.
NiDCOM described the story as totally false and fraudulent and warned members of the public against any involvement in it.
It said any announcement on the Diaspora Mortgage Pre-financing would be made by both the FMBN and NIDCOM on their websites and social media handles.
It wrote: “While the company has applied to be part of the proposed programme, it has not been granted any approval.
“To ensure the protection of potential beneficiaries of the Diaspora mortgage scheme, both agencies are at the final stage of concluding arrangements with the CBN.
“Please beware of fraudsters and await genuine information from only the FMBN or NIDCOM or both.”
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) also wrote: “The management of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria wishes to disclaim reports in the media by HXAfrica (Housing Exchange Africa) on a purported N40 million mortgage pre-financing scheme, which referred to FMBN as a partner.
.”While the FMBN and NIDCOM remain committed to the roll-out of the Diaspora Mortgage Scheme after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, we will endeavour to provide official information and updates on our respective websites and social media handles to prevent the public from being misled.”
FMBN also said that while HXAfrica had applied for engagement with the bank, no approvals had been granted, and no formal agreements had been finalised. (GBN)
