Lagos, Nov. 3, 2023 – The naira appreciated against the dollar at the two major segments of the foreign exchange markets in Lagos on Thursday.
It closed at N793.28 to the dollar at the official NAFEX window on Thursday against the rate of N799.32 which it closed on Wednesday.
The local currency also appreciated to N1,170 to the dollar on Thursday from N1,120 on Wednesday at the black market.
Market operators attributed the appreciation of the naira at both segments on Thursday to the injection of about $10 billion into the system by the Federal government through payment of backlog of debts to foreign airlines and other creditors. (GBN)
