Lagos, Feb. 24, 2023 – The federal government has ordered the closure of all land borders ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A statement by Tony Akuneme, the Spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), on Thursday said the NIS comptroller-General, Isah Jere, directed the closure of land borders for 24 hours on election day.
The closure will be effective from 12am on Saturday to 12am on Sunday.
He directed all command comptrollers, especially those in the border states, to ensure strict enforcement of this directive.
The presidential and national assembly elections are scheduled or February 25. (GBN)
