Abuja, June 26, 2024 – The federal government has banned the use of single-use plastics in all federal government agencies.
Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Environment, announced this to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Salako said the ban conformed with the government’s plastic waste management strategy.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to addressing the triple threat of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution,” he said.
The minister said plastic pollution had been a major issue in Nigeria.
