Lagos, Sept. 25, 2023 – Dr. Olajide Adediran, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, has expressed displeasure over the ruling of Lagos State Election Petition Tribunal.

The three-man tribunal, led by Justice Arum Ashom-led, in its judgment delivered on Monday, affirmed the victory of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the election.

Adediran described the judgment as unfortunate.

“It is quite unfortunate that the tribunal, in its wisdom, refused to accept the credible and convincing evidence presented by my legal team on the non-qualifications of the APC and the Labour Party, LP, candidates in the election.”

He said the judgment was in gross contravention of some provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral act 2022 on issues bordering on qualification of a candidate for an election.

Adediran said the party would study the judgment and decide on the next step to be taken.

“This is not the end of the electoral process. It is just another stage,” he said.

“We will study the judgment and take decisions in the best interest of Lagosians.”
