Abuja, Nov. 20, 2023 -The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday affirmed the election of Hyacinth Alia as Governor of Benue State.
Titus Uba, the defeated PDP governorship candidate, had taken his case to the appellate court after the Benue State Election Tribunal had affirmed Alia’s election.
He had urged the court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal which turned down allegations contained in his petition that Alia’s Deputy, Samuel Ode, presented a forged the certificate he submitted to INEC.
He also claimed that Alia’s name was submitted to INEC less than 180 days to the election.
Delivering its judgment on Monday, the three-member court of appeal, led led by Justice Onyekachi Aja Otisi, ruled that the Uba failed to prove his allegations beyond reasonable doubt. (GBN).
