Bauchi, May 16, 2023 – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Tuesday inaugurated the multi-million naira Kaolin processing plant in Bagurja in Gwaram Alkaleri Local Government area of the state.

During the inauguration, small scale miners were empowered with equipment for their mining activities under the economic sustainability plan of the Federal Government.

Mohammed expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development for finding the state suitable for siting the plant to serve the entire North-East.

He was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim.

The governor expressed disappointment over the huge gap between demand and availability of mineral resources across the country due to neglect by successive governments.

He said that there were lots of mineral resources across the country, but regretted that they had not been fully harnessed, thereby creating a very wide gap between demand and supply.

The governor said the state had a large reserve of kaolin, gypsum and other natural resources which had not been mined and called on investors to come and partner with the state to harness the mineral resources.

He said that already, the state government had obtained 12 operational licences from the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and promised that they would be judiciously used.

The governor assured that the state government would provide amenities like water and electricity at the site for maximum output of the plant. (GBN)
