Allow Nigerians abroad with expired passports return home – Comptroller General

Lagos, Dec. 13, 2022 – The Federal Government has directed relevant authorities to allow Nigerians abroad returning home with expired passports easy passage.

The Global Business News (GBN) reports that the directive was borne by a letter from the Office of the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, to the Minister of foreign Affairs last weekend, a copy of which was sighted by our correspondent.

The letter read in parts: “the Federal Government has approved that Nigerians returning home can be admitted into the country with their expired Nigerian passports.

“Consequently, all airlines are requested to allow holders of expired Nigerian passports to board without let or hindrance.

‘”In addition, all Nigerian Diplomatic Missions abroad are kindly requested  to circulate this information to airlines operators and boarder authorities of host countries for the necessary  action,” the letter directed. (GBN)
