Abuja, Dec. 12, 2023 – The Federal Government paid the N35, 000 wage award it promised Nigerian workers just only once.
Festus Osifo, the President of Trade Union Congress (TUC), said this on Tuesday while addressing journalists after the National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
He urged the federal government to continue the payment of the N35,000 wage award to workers.
“We wish to call on the government to fast-track all the processes.
“We learnt that they are currently putting some things in place to pay and people are not ready to listen to excuses.
“We want them to remove all the bottlenecks that are being experienced today regarding the wage award and to continuously pay.
“We also wish to call on the respective state governments to do the same and pay the N35,000 wage. I want to say kudos to them.”
Osifo also called on the private sector to fulfil its obligations on the wage award. (GBN)
