Abuja, Dec. 19, 2022 – Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, has been sentenced to two and half years imprisonment for money laundering.
Okupe had earlier on Monday been convicted by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the Presiding Judge, had found Okupe guilty of contravening some sections of the Money Laundering Act and accepting cash in excess of the threshold allowed under the Act without going through a financial institution.
The judge gave him the opportunity to provide witnesses before 1.45 pm before finally pronouncing the sentence. (GBN)
