Port Harcourt, Nov. 24, 2023 -Desmond Akawor, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, has resigned as the chairman of the party in the state.
Akawor resigned as PDP chairman In Rivers to take up new appointment as the Chairman of Revenue Mobilsation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) by the Federal Government.
His appointment as RMFC Chairman was announced by the presidency on Thursday.
In a letter to the PDP National Chairman, dated Nov. 22, 2023, Akawor said he had decided to take up the appointment which he considered a national service.
He said he was going to represent Rivers State at the national level. (GBN)
