Osogbo, Nov. 17, 2023 -The Osun State Government has suspended the state Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, over allegations of for misconduct and abuse of power.
The State House of Assembly suspended the chief judge on Thursday and the suspension was approved immediately by Gov. Ademola Adeleke.
Olawale Rasheed, the Spokesperson for the governor, said in a statement that the appointment of Olayinka as acting CJ was sequel to the approval of the resolution of the assembly by the governor.
The governor has appointed an Acting Chief Judge, Justice Olayinka Afolabi, with immediate effect.
The acting chief judge is to be sworn-in today, Friday, Nov. 17, 2023.
The suspension of the chief judge was in spite of an order by the National Industrial Court (NIC) in Ibadan on Thursday restraining the Osun government from terminating the appointment of Justice Ojo as chief judge.
Justice J. D. Peter of the NIC had also ordered the government to continue to pay the salary entitlements, emoluments and other benefits of the chief judge. (GBN)
