Abuja, Nov. 10, 2023 – The National Industrial Court has stopped the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress from embarking on their planned strike.

Justice Benedict Kanyip, the President of the Industrial Court, on Friday ruled in favour of the Federal Government by stopping the unions from embarking on their strike from Nov. 14, 2023.

This followed the action of Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, who filed an ex-parte application to stop the unions from embarking on the strike

The National Executive Council of the two unions had an extraordinary meeting last Tuesday where they discussed the alleged attack and brutalisation of Comrade Joe Ajaero, their leader, by the Imo State Government officials and some thugs in Owerri, Imo Sate.

At the meeting, the unions resolved to go on a nationwide strike from Nov. 14, 2023. (GBN).
