Abeokuta, Nov. 6, 2023 – The remains of Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, will be buried on Dec. 8, 2023.
According to a statement by Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, the Spokesman for the deceased, said the burial programme had been released after a family meeting.
He said that a committee was set up to fine-tune the programme of events for the burial of Lawson, a renowned educationist, and entrepreneur, who died on October 28.
According to him, the Central Planning Committee of the burial is headed by Sanya Abiola, while other members include, Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, and Akin Jiboku.
“The family meeting is chaired by music legend, Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi, added other members of the Central Planning Committee, Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku.
“The burial arrangement as concluded by the committee will commence with various activities from December 1 to 6, designated for various groups, associations, and professional bodies to celebrate the deceased.
“Service of songs will be held December 7, at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the funeral service will be held December 8, at St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State, which will be followed with interment strictly for the family members of the deceased.”
