Abuja, Oct. 23, 2023 – The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the appeal of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) opposing the selection of Kashim Shettima as the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the APC in the 2023 elections.
Justice John Okoro, who led the seven-member panel, dismissed the appeal immediately the APM lawyer Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh, requested to withdraw the appeal.
He said the appeal was frivolous because the Supreme Court had, in an earlier case of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) v. INEC and others, resolved this issue in favour of Shettima.
Okoro told Umeh that the court’s decision would not have any utilitarian value to his client, adding the appeal amounted to a waste of the court’s time and resources. (GBN)
