Akintola Williams dies at 104

Lagos, Sept. 11, 2023, – Akintola Williams, the doyen of accounting in Nigeria, is dead.

He died on Monday afternoon at the age of 104.

Williams was the first Nigerian chartered accountant. 

He went to Yaba Higher College where he obtained a diploma in commerce and later travelled to England in 1944 where he studied at the University of London.

Williams founded the first indigenous chartered accounting firm in Africa, Akintola Williams & Co. in Lagos in 1952.

Williams died in his house in Lagos.  (GBN)
