Abuja, Aug. 28, 2023 – President Bola Tinubu is ready to sack any of his 45 ministers lacking in the discharge of his or her assigned responsibilities.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesman, said this on Monday while speaking on “Sunrise Daily’ programme on Channels Television.
He said the president would not accept any reason for the failure of any of the ministers.
The presidential spokesman said the president had set benchmarks for achievement of goals for the ministers and had duly advised them.
Ngelale described the president as someone who is bent on targets to achieve his agenda on” Renewed Hope”.
He said failure to achieve set goals may earn anyone the sack.
“President Bola Tinubu is someone who says ‘these are your benchmarks, I know what I want you to achieve, I’m not expecting you to just come up with some plan when you get there. I’m telling you the time frame within which I expect you to achieve.
“And if you don’t, there are consequences. He’s ready to fire a minister at the drop of a dime if he is not getting what he wants. Absolutely,” Ngelale said.
He said the president paced emphasis on job specialisation in the posting of the ministers as there was urgent need for hands-on specialisation in the federal government.
“Based on the level of the deficit, if we can enhance specialisation and ensure that we slim it down, get housing into the hands of Musa Dangiwa, whose experience reforming the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria suits well to the reform of the housing sector,’’ he said.
