Abuja, Aug. 8, 2023 – The organized labour is scheduled to meet with Federal Government today, Tuesday, for further discussions and negotiations on the palliatives on petrol subsidy removal.
Joe Ajaero, the NLC President, said the two unions received a message to that effect on Monday from the National Assembly which intervened on behalf of Federal Government during the mass protest.
He said the National Assembly had promised to get back to the unions in a week for feedback on the issues.
Ajaero said that he expected that between then and now, something positive must have played out.
The labour unions have been calling for the implementation of palliatives which the Federal Government promised when it announced the removal of petrol subsidy on May 29.
The unions said their patience was being taken for granted after several negotiations and more than two months after the removal of the subsidy. (GBN)
