Minna, Aug. 5, 2025 – More than N15 million worth of expired and unregistered products were seized in Bida, Niger State, on Saturday by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Shaba Mohammed, a Director in NAFDAC, said this on Saturday.
He said the products were seized when officials of NAFDAC visited some business premises in Bida, Niger State, on Saturday.
“We embarked on our routine visit to Bida, where we raided 24 business premises including pharmacy outlets and supermarkets.
“During the raid, some expired and unregistered pharmaceutical products, including drugs, were seized.
“Some of the supermarkets harboured unregistered and expired beverage, soft drinks, vegetable oil, spaghetti, tomatoes paste and cosmetics which were also seized.
“The monetary value of the items seized is over N15 million,” he said.
“Two supermarkets and two pharmaceutical shops were sealed for compromising standards.
“The affected owners have been invited to Minna for interrogation,” he said.
Mohammed advised residents in the state against buying expired and substandard drugs and foods.
He advised them to look out for production and expiry dates of products and to make sure that the dates on the products were not tampered with. (GBN)
