Abuja, June 21, 2023 -Hakeem Odumosu, a former Commissioner of Police of Police in Lagos State, has denied reports that he had been appointed Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
He made the denial in a statement he issued on Wednesday.
The media has neem awash with the reports of Odumosu’s new appointment as Chairman of the EFCC since Tuesday
The news was that President Bola Tinubu had approved the appointment of Odumosu as the Acting Chairman of EFCC.
But in a statement on Wednesday, Odumosu, who retired as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, dismissed the media reports, saying he was not aware of such an appointment.
Odumosu described the circulation of the fake appointment as an unnecessary distraction by mischief makers.
“Good Morning everyone, I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment.
“I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.
“This information must have emanated from Mischief Makers and should be totally disregarded,” he said
The news spread like wild wire as President Bola Tinubu has just suspended Abdulrasheed Bawa, who was the Chairman of EFCC and replaced him with Abdulkarim Chukkol in acting capacity. (GBN)
