Abuja, June 10, 2023 -Troops of the Special Forces from the Defence Headquarters have killed six terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition from them in Kaduna State.
Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, the Director, Defence Media Operations, said this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
He said the troops, had on Friday, conducted covert operation to terrorists’ enclaves at Maidaro village in Giwa Local Government Area and made contact with terrorists.
He said the six terrorists were eliminated in the fire fight that ensued.
According to him, five AK 47 rifles, 192 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm Special ammunition, 74 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm Special and Nine AK 47 rifle magazines were recovered.
“Three IEDs, three Baofeng radios, one PKM, three motorcycles amongst other sundry items were recovered.
“The military high command commends troops and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorist and all criminal activities within their area,” he said.
Meanwhile, terrorists have killed 13 members of a vigilance group and abducted 30 in Kusherki community in Rafi local government area of Niger State.
The terrorists carried out the attack after invading the community in large numbers on motorcycles shooting into the air.
The invasion took the vigilance group by surprise as the members did not receive any intelligence report about the advancement of the terrorists.
A member of the vigilance group, who survived the attack, disclosed the vigilantes engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle, but were overpowered due to the sophisticated weapons of the terrorists.
Alhaji Usman Ayuba Katako, the Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, confirmed the incident, but said he did not have the exact number of casualties or those abducted.
He said several people were injured during the attack. (GBN)
