Birnin-Kebbi, May 21,2023 – Kebbi State has approved N4 billion for payment for gratuities and death benefits to some beneficiaries in the state.
Atiku Bagudu, the State Governor, announced this on Saturday at a press briefing.
Safiyanu Garba Bena, the state Acting Head of Civil Service, who briefed journalists on behalf of the governor, said the approval of over two billion (N2,360,156,801.78K) was for payment of gratuities and death benefits to those who retired and were captured between January 1st 2023 to May 15th , 2023 or beneficiaries of those who died in the period.
He said that over a billion naira (N1,032,216,817.89K) was for the payment of the balances of 2017/2018 Local Government and Local Government Education Authorities, LGEAs beneficiaries following the completion of verification by the committees.
He said with this development, the Kebbi State Government had fully paid gratuities of all retirees and death benefits of those who served the state government, local governments and Local Government Education Authorities including contract workers and who retired or those died prior to May 15th 2023.
