Ekiti State pays N915m gratuities to 289 retirees

Ado-Ekiti, May 24, 2023 – Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has paid N915 million gratuities to 289 retirees of state and local governments in the state.

The governor, while presenting cheques to the affected retirees in Akure, reiterated his administration’s commitment to programmes and policies that would enhance the quality of life of residents.

Oyebanji said the payment of the gratuity was in fulfillment of his campaign promise of shared prosperity.

He said that his administration would continue to ensure that pensioners enjoyed a worthy life after their service to the state.

The governor said he was not unaware of challenges confronting the retirees as a result of delays in getting their benefits as and when due.

He assured them that his government was irrevocably committed to ending the regime of endless wait in the payment of gratuities.

Oyebanji said he had paid N1.2 billion as gratuities to both the state and local  government retirees since the inception of his administration in October 2022.

He promised that such payments would be regular. (GBN)
