NGX traded N22.8bn worth of shares last week

Lagos, May 8, 2023 – A total of 2.973 billion shares worth N22.828 billion were traded in 23,765 deals on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) last week.

This was in contrast to the 14.029 billion shares valued at N59.007 billion exchanged in 24,048 deals in the preceding week.

The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 1.458 billion shares valued at N14.082 billion traded in 13,115 deals.

The industry contributed 49.04 per cent and 61.69 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The Conglomerates Industry followed with 1.254 billion shares worth N3.123 billion traded in 1,662 deals.

The Consumer Goods Industry took the third place with 71.425 million shares worth N1.468 billion traded in 3,177 deals.

Transactions in the top three equities namely: Transnational Corporation, Access Holdings, and Fidelity Bank, measured by volume, accounted for 2.074 billion shares worth N11.297 billion in 5,966 deals.

The tree equities contributed 69.76 per cent and 49.49 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.12 per cent to close the week at 52,465.31 and N28.568 trillion, respectively.

Fifty-one equities appreciated in price during the week higher than 49 equities in the preceding week.

Twenty-six equities depreciated in price, higher than 17 in the preceding week, while 79 equities remained unchanged, higher than 90 recorded in the preceding week. (GBN)
