Lagos, May 5, 2023 – The Old Bailey court in London has sentenced Ike Ekweremadu, former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, to nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking plot.
Ekweremadu, who was convicted for organ harvesting by the court last month , was sentenced on Friday.
The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years six months while the medical doctor in the plot, Dr Obinna Obeta, was sentenced 10 years and his medical licence was also suspended.
Ekweremadu has been on trial in the London court over allegation of organ harvesting. (GBN)
