Lokoja, April 12, 2023 – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted direct primary method for picking its governorship candidate in Kogi State.
The indirect primary method initially adopted was jettisoned following protests by some aspirants and stakeholders that the delegates list forwarded to the party’s national headquarters was questionable.
The party has informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the 17 aspirants of its decision to adopt the direct mode.
The party’s decision was conveyed to INEC by the Acting National Chairman, Senator Abubakar Kyari on April 6.
The letter read in part: “We refer to our earlier letter dated 25th January 2023 with reference no: APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/023/191 wherein we notified the Commission of the mode of the primary election for the conduct of the Gubernatorial Primary Election in Kogi State. (GBN)
