Osogbo, March 23, 2023 – The Court of Appeal in Osun has fixed tomorrow, Friday, March 24, for judgment in the governorship tussle between the incumbent, Ademola Adeleke, and former governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The court of appeal is intervening in the case following the INEC’s appeal against the judgment of the Osun Election Tribunal which upturned the electoral victory of Adeleke in the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the state
Adeleke of the PDP had defeated Oyetola of the APC during the state governorship election.
Adeleke polled 403,371 votes against the 375,027 votes scored by Oyetola and he was sworn in as the governor on Nov. 27, 2022.
Oyetola later approached Election Petition Tribunal to challenge Adeleke’s declaration on two grounds of over voting in over 740 polling units and certificate forgery.
The tribunal sacked Adeleke on the ground of over voting in the majority judgment of two judges against one. (GBN)
