Kamba (Kebbi State), Feb. 10, 2026 – the Federal Government on Monday reopened the Nigeria-Niger border through the Kamba corridor.

Mahmoud Mattawale Ibrahim, the Kebbi Customs Area Commander, announced this on Monday while addressing journalists during his visit to Kamba for the reopening.
The area commander, who was accompanied by his counterpart from the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Aminu Suleiman, said the Command was committed to enforcing all directives relating to the border reopening as instructed by the President through the Controller General of Customs (CGC).
He promised that the officers of the Command would ensure that only legitimate trade and other lawful commercial activities were conducted through the Tsamiya corridor from Benin Republic to Niger via the Kamba corridor.
Alhaji Muhammad Shiko Kamba, the District Head of Kamba, expressed appreciation to the Federal government for reopening the border for economic activities in Kamba, Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.
Nasiru Idris, the Kebbi State Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Attahiru Maccido, directed that machinery must be put in place to ensure that only transparent businesses were conducted around the border.
He said the reopening of the border would boost economic activities along the corridor and also increase employment generation for the youths.
