
Abuja, Dec. 17, 2025 – Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and Gbenga Komolafe, his counterpart in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) have resigned their appointments.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, a Presidential Spokesman.
The statement said this was a voluntary decision of the two executives.
The two officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies following the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
