Lagos, Aug. 18, 2025 The federal government is to disburse cash gifts to over two million households in the next two weeks under its cash transfer programme.
Tanko Sununu, the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, disclosed this on Monday while speaking on Channels Television programme “Sunrise Politics”.
He said about 2.2 million Nigerians would benefit from the programme, adding that the federal government was committed to poverty alleviation.
Sunmonu promised that those already captured in the social safety net would receive the cash transfer before the end of August.
“In the next few days to come, before the end of August, we are going to reach out to 2.2 million households.
“The process is such that the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) will now harvest vulnerable Nigerians based on their lowest cadre in the national social register,” Sununu said.
