Abuja, July 28, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu conferred the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), one of Nigeria’s highest national honours, on members of Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, for their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
He also presented each of the players with three-bedroom apartments and cash gifts of $100,000 (in naira equivalent) and $50,000 for each member of the technical team.
Tinubu commended them for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage,” as they secured Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title in a thrilling 3–2 comeback victory against hosts Morocco.
“On behalf of the grateful nation, I hereby confer on the players and the 11-man technical team national honour of OON.
“I hereby allocate a three-bedroom apartment to each of the players and technical crew.
“In addition, there’s a cash award of the naira equivalence of $100,000 to the 24 players and equivalence of $50,000 to the technical team. Once again, I congratulate you, and I will continue to pray for you,” Tinubu said.
