Kaduna, July 4, 2025 – The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Saudi-based company, Homeland Protectors Supplies Limited, to produce satellite laser systems and security drones.
Maj.-Gen. Babatunde Alaya, DICON Director-General, said the partnership was aimed at bringing expertise and experience in satellite laser systems, communication, and modern security drones to Nigeria.
“Today is another milestone for DICON. We have just signed a major partnership agreement with Homeland Protectors Limited, an international organisation.
“What we are bringing on board are expertise and experience in the field of satellite, laser system, communications, and weather security drones.
The director-general said the agreement provided for the company to bring its production line to Nigeria and start producing in Nigeria.
“So, it’s a major milestone, and I want to thank managing director of the company for finding time to travel and come to Nigeria to come and sign the MOU by himself.
“We are going to see joint production at that point and it has a lot of expertise,” Alaya said.
He said the joint venture is expected to bring benefits to DICON and Nigeria.
He added, “The support of President Bola Tinubu and the Ministers of Defence has been instrumental in making this partnership a reality.”
Alaya said the collaboration would also lead to technology transfer and knowledge sharing between DICON and the globally reputable firm.
He added that the partnership would enhance local production capabilities for defence systems in Nigeria.
“This partnership has the potential to boost Nigeria’s defence industry and contribute to regional security, ” Alaya said.
The director-general appreciated Tinubu for signing the DICON Act in 2023, which had enabled it to partner with international companies like homeland protectors limited.
Alaya also commended the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar and the Minister of State, Bello Matawalle, for their sustained support to DICON.
He said that the act had paved the way for DICON to collaborate with international companies, which would not have been possible without it.
Earlier, Ali Aldayhani the Chief Executive of Homeland Protectors Supplies Limited, had also thanked the president and the two ministers for their support.
“Without the act, we wouldn’t have been able to sign this MOU,” he said.
