Abuja, June 24, 2025 – The Senate has again extended the implementation of the capital components of 2024 budget to December 31, 2025.
This is the second time the implementation of the projects would be extended through the amendment of the appropriation bill.
The resolution for the extension was adopted at the plenary on Tuesday.
Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, who presided over the plenary, announced the extension.
Olamilekan Adeola, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, who led the debate, said the extension was necessary to allow the federal government to complete ongoing projects as captured in the budget.
He said the government did not have enough resources to execute the projects and urged the Senate to support the extension of the 2024 budget to avoid abandoned projects
The capital component of the 2024 budget was first extended from December 31, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
