Abuja, Nov. 19, 2024: Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has called on African descendants to unite for the common goal of promoting their diversity, strength and progress of the continent.
The NiDCOM Chairman made the call in Abuja.during a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero,
Dabiri-Erewa described this decade, nicknamed “The Decade for the People of African Descent”, as an opportunity for Africans all over the world to build a stronger, united and upward continent.
She said the Commission was eager to work with the Cuban people and government for effective and efficient diaspora engagement to galvanise cultural exchanges.
Palmero acknowledged the crucial role and importance of exchanges in building cultural identities given the similar historical imperatives.
The Cuban envoy extended an invitation to the NiDCOM Boss to celebrate “The Decade for the People of African Descent”, holding in Havana and Matanzas provinces.in December,
Palmero explained that the event is similar to the Badagry Door of Return Festival in Lagos that captures the spiritual and socio-economic significance of the Historic African Diaspora.
She commended the leadership of Dabiri-Erewa for the impressive works done to engage with the diaspora.
The envoy said she was looking forward to establish mutually beneficial relationship with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. (GBN)
