Abuja, Sept. 5, 2024 – Edwin Clark, an Ijaw leader, has requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest and prosecute Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, for threatening to incite in violence in states governed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Clark made the request in Abuja on Thursday at a press conference

He said the remarks, coming from Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, represented a “blatant disrespect” to President Bola Tinubu who appointed him.

He described the remarks as “unrestrained”, adding that they constituted a form of treason as they had the potential to incite violence within the nation.

Clark said Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, along with #EndBadGovernance protesters, had been detained for similar offences.

He urged the IGP to take similar action against the FCT Minister and compel him to retract his statements.

Recall that Wike, last week, threatened to causes crisis in states under the PDP because some of PDP governors allegedly made uncomplimentary remarks against him in the ongoing crisis in the party. (GBN)
