Abuja, July 17, 2024 – Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), says 250 stranded Nigerians will soon be repatriated back home from the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
She disclosed on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi.
The NiDCOM boss said 190 Nigerians were just repatriated from UAE.
The meeting followed the lifting of the visa ban on Nigeria by the UAE after country banned nationals of Nigeria and 19 other African countries from entering its capital city, Dubai.
According to a statement issued by NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa said her visit to the envoy was part of the efforts towards deepening relations between both countries.

She said actions of foreigners abroad could affect the image of their home countries,
NIDCON boss promised to engage and sensitise Nigerians in the UAE to be good ambassadors of their country of stay and country of origin so as to excel in whatever they are doing and never to forget home.
She said the initiative was aimed to foster better understanding and compliance by Nigerians abroad with local regulations.
Dabiri-Erewa condemned the role of Western media in perpetuating negative stereotypes about Nigerians.
