Abuja, July 15, 2024 – The federal government has distributed 740 truckloads of rice to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, disclosed this to journalists at the end of FEC meeting in Abuja on Monday.
He said the distribution of the food items was part of the federal government’s intervention to alleviate the current food crisis.
The minister said each state, including the FCT, was given 20 truckloads containing 1,200 bags of 25kg of rice.
He appealed to state governors to ensure an effective distribution of the food item to reach most of the needy.
The minister said that the President directed the Minister of Agriculture to ensure that food was made available to Nigerians.
