Abuja, July 11, 2024 – Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, said the organised labour still insisted on its demand for N250,000 living wage at their meeting with the President Tinubu on Thursday afternoon.
Ajaero said this on Thursday while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting with the president.
He said the meeting was just to discuss rather than to negotiate, adding that they would return for another meeting with the president next week.
Tinubu called the meeting with the labour leaders to seek their views as part of the wider consultations he promised before sending the recommendation of the New National Minimum Wage Committee to the National Assembly.
The Committee recommended N62,000 minimum wage.
