Abuja, April 23, 2024 – Ola Olukayode, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday promised to see the prosecution of Yahaya Bello, a former Governor of Kogi State, to its logical conclusion.
He promised to resign his appointment if he failed to do so.
Olukayode, who made the promise while speaking with journalists in his office, said the EFCC would arrest anyone who tried to obstruct the administration of justice.
He said he and his men would continue in their efforts to sanitise the system in spite of efforts of some people to scuttle the efforts of the EFCC.
The EFCC has been trying to arrest Yahaya Bello in the bid to arraign him on 19-count charge of money laundering, breach of trust, and theft of funds totaling N80.2 billion.
The EFCC has launched a manhunt for Bello who is currenting on the run, while other security agencies are also assisting in the arrest of the firmer governor.
Bello still refused to appear in court on Tuesday for his arraignment on a 19-count charge.
The court ruled that alternative means of delivery of the legal process to the defendant should be explored if it was not possible to service him directly. (GBN)
