NiDCOM boss commends Nigerians in Cameroon

Abuja, March 28, 2024 – Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has commended Nigerians in Cameroon for their immense contributions to the socio-economic development of the two countries.

Dabiri-Erewa made the commendation in Abuja during a visit by Mr. Ismail Adegbola, the Publisher of Naija Diaspora Magazine, who also presented her with an award for her dedication and commitment to Diaspora engagements.

Dabiri-Erewa said the Commission was looking forward to engaging with Nigerians in Cameroon, adding that NiDCOM would be deliberate in engaging Nigerians in other African countries.

She commended the publisher of the Naija Diaspora Magazine in Cameroon for further advancing the interests of Nigerians in the diaspora and strengthen ties between Nigeria and Cameroon.

She particularly acknowledged the recognition accorded her on the presentation of “The Woman of the Year Award 2023” by Mr. Ismail Adegbola.

The award, which was initially bestowed on her during the 10th-anniversary celebration in Douala, Cameroon, was formally presented at the NiDCOM Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

The NiDCOM boss expressed her profound appreciation for the recognition, adding that:  “I am deeply honored to receive this esteemed award. It is a testament to the collective efforts of all those who tirelessly work towards enhancing Nigeria’s diaspora relations and fostering development across borders.”

Adegbola, a Nigerian publisher and prominent figure in diaspora affairs in Cameroon, highlighted the importance of celebrating exemplary individuals like the Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM who, he said, embodied leadership and dedication in her endeavors. 

He commended her proactive stance in amplifying the voices and concerns of Nigerians globally, saying: “Mama Diaspora’s proactive dedication ensures our Diasporas’ voices are heard on the global stage.”

The award presentation, held under the distinguished support of His Excellency, Sadi Rene Emmanuel, the Cameroonian Minister of Communication, was a rewarding moment for Dabiri-Erewa’s contributions to nation-building and diaspora engagement. (GBN)
