Kaduna, March 4, 2024 – Bandits operating in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday invaded the LEA Primary School in Kuriga, kidnapping scores of pupils.

An eye witness account said no fewer than 100 pupils including the head teacher and some other staff, were taken away by the bandits.

The incident occurred around 8.00 am on the school premises.

The police are yet to confirm the incident, but Shehu Sani, the Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has confirmed the incident.

He said the bandits invaded the LEA Primary School in Kuriga town and kidnapped 232 pupils.

The Senator also recalled that a school principal, Idris Sufyan from the same town was killed and his wife kidnapped over a month ago.

Senator Sani wrote on his X, formerly Twitter,  handle on Thursday: “It’s tragic to hear that 232 students have just been kidnapped in Kuriga village, Chikun Local Government in Kaduna state.

“It’s the same village where a school principal, Idris Sufyan was killed and his wife kidnapped over a month ago.

“However, I’m optimistic their freedom will be secured,’’ he wrote.  (GBN)
