Minna, Feb. 7, 2024 – Niger State is to recruit 1,000 health workers to improve health care delivery in the state.
The state government has also approved automatic replacement of retired health workers in the state.
Dr Ibrahim Dangana, the state Commissioner for Primary Health Care, announced this at a press conference In Minna on Wednesday.
The commissioner said the state Governor, Umar Bago, was committed to facilitating accessible, high-quality and affordable healthcare services throughout the state.
He said the recruitment was to address the critical issue of manpower deficit in the health sector and was also to bolster antenatal care services, family planning provisions, and reinforce referral systems across all primary health care (PHC) centers in the state.
Dangana outlined the forthcoming deployment of a vigilant monitoring team to all PHCs in the state. This team will work towards rectifying any irregularities in the sector, aligning with the citizens’ expectations.
He said that the state government planned to construct and equip a state-of-the-art Emergency Operation Centre (EOP) in Minna to coordinate and overseeing vital services at Public Health Centers across the state. (GBN)
