Abuja, Jan. 29, 2024 -The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) recorded N1.895 billion revenue In the third quarter of 2023, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The figure is an increase of 103.1% increase over the N933 million recorded in the same period in 2022.
The company generated N1.49 billion from passengers, while N286.78 million was realised from cargo transportation.
On quarterly basis, the revenue figure also represented an increase of 57.13% over the N1.206 billion revenue recorded in the second quarter of 2023 which stood at N1.89 billion.
During the second quarter, revenues from passenger traffick rose from N1.10 billion to N1.48 billion, while receipts from cargo transportation increased from N188 million to N286 million.
The NRC recorded 594,348 passengers in the third quarter of 2013, against the 474,117 passengers recorded in the second quarter of 2023.
The company carried 500,348 passengers recorded during the same period in 2022.
It transported 81,963 tons of goods in third quarter of 2023 against the 33,312 tons transported in third quarter 2022. (GBN)
